The world of international business is always changing with new laws being put in place and the with globalization new avenues are constantly being explored so anybody interested in doing international trade or export import business or seeking a job in the same must have a willingness to learn and the confidence to face new challenges.

Some skills that will boost your confidence and earn you respect which in turn will result in successful operation of your international business are:

Foreign language skills. If you do not know any other language apart from English then take time to learn at least one more, especially that country's language with which you will be doing the most business. For the others you can hire a translator. However knowing the language yourself will definitely earn respect from the buyers plus the situation will be in your control not the translators.
Learning international business etiquette cannot be emphasized enough. Every country has its own unique culture for social activity and business activity. For example most countries have a formal outlook in terns of dressing and speaking and carrying oneself compared to Americans. Before venturing into a new country it is prudent to do a background check on the country's business etiquette and equip yourself with the necessary skills before a meeting.
